Station - Instructions for candidate
You are a final-year medical student on placement in the Emergency Department of an urban teaching hospital.
Enzo Caruso, a 22-year-old warehouse worker, has been brought to the Emergency Department by ambulance with vomiting and increasing drowsiness. He is on a monitored bed and rousable to voice. His parents are waiting outside.
Your tasks are to:
- Take a focused history.
- Perform a focused examination.
- Request any relevant investigations and interpret the results provided.
- Summarise your findings to the examiner with your most likely diagnosis and differential diagnoses.
- Outline your initial management plan to the examiner.
- Please verbalise your examination to the examiner; findings will be provided on request.
- You do not need to write prescriptions or medication orders.
This is a 15-minute station, with 2 minutes of reading time.
