Station - Instructions for candidate
You are an intern on the cardiology ward of a Perth teaching hospital.
Helen Barrett, a 58-year-old florist, is going home today, three days after a heart attack treated with a coronary stent. Her discharge medicines are listed on your sheet. The pharmacist has been delayed, and the registrar has asked you to go through her two antiplatelet medicines with her before she leaves.
Your tasks are to:
- Take a focused history.
- Counsel Mrs Barrett on her antiplatelet medicines.
- Discuss the discharge plan with her.
- You do NOT need to examine the patient; the examiner will give you the examination findings if you ask for them.
This is a 10-minute station, with 2 minutes of reading time.
