Station - Instructions for candidate
You are an intern in the general medicine outpatient clinic of a Perth teaching hospital.
Li Liu, a 38-year-old high-school teacher, has been referred by her GP about her blood pressure. Her GP started a new tablet two weeks ago, then rang her about a blood test and asked for her to be seen here. She is in the room; her mother is waiting outside.
Your tasks are to:
- Take a focused history from Ms Liu.
- Perform a focused examination.
- Request the investigations you need and interpret the results provided.
- Explain what the results show and your provisional diagnosis to Ms Liu.
- Discuss your initial management plan with Ms Liu.
- Examination findings are given as you say what you are examining.
- Investigations are available from the examiner when you ask for them.
This is a 15-minute station, with 2 minutes of reading time.
