Station - Instructions for candidate

You are a medical student on placement in the pre-admission clinic.

Ian Whitmore is a 64-year-old man who has booked a pre-admission appointment before his planned surgical procedure in 2 weeks' time. He was referred here by his GP for assessment.

Your tasks are to:

  1. Take a focused history.
  2. Request any relevant investigations and interpret the results provided.
  3. Summarise your findings to the examiner.
  4. Outline your perioperative management plan to the examiner.
  • You do not need to perform a physical examination in this station.
  • You are not required to write prescriptions.

This is a 10-minute station, with 2 minutes of reading time.
