Station - Instructions for candidate

You are a final-year medical student on placement in a general practice in the northern suburbs of Perth. Your supervising GP has asked you to see this patient first.

Bec Hobbs, 31, has brought her son Liam, aged 6 months, for his scheduled vaccines. She has told the practice nurse she is 'not sure she wants to go ahead' and has asked to speak to a doctor first. Bec is holding Liam.

Your tasks are to:

  1. Take a brief focused history.
  2. Discuss the 6-month vaccines with Bec.
  • You do NOT need to examine Liam or to give any injection.
  • Your supervising GP will join you at the end; you are not expected to make a referral.

This is a 10-minute station, with 2 minutes of reading time.
