Greetings
Hand wash
Verify the patient's identity
Explanation of the examination
Obtain consent
Ensure presence of a chaperone
Ask about any current pain
Confirm if there's any chance of pregnancy
Position patient in modified lithotomy position

Ask patient to bring heels towards bottom and let knees fall to the side

Perform vulval inspection

Look for any abnormalities, discharge, or lesions

Speculum Insertion

Warm speculum if metal
Lubricate speculum
Gently separate labia
Insert speculum sideways, then rotate 90°
Gently open speculum

Visualize Cervix

Identify cervical os
Inspect cervix for abnormalities
Check for abnormal discharge
Inspect vaginal walls

Look for any abnormalities or lesions

Sampling (if indicated)

Perform cervical smear if needed
Take swabs if indicated

Remove Speculum

Gently close speculum
Rotate speculum 90°
Gently remove speculum

Conclusion

Cover patient and provide privacy to clean up and dress
Dispose of used equipment properly
Summarize findings
Suggest further tests if needed
