Look for central and peripheral cyanosis

Look for peripheral stigmata of cardiovascular disease

Assess radial pulse

Check capillary refill time

Look for malar flush

Assess conjunctiva for pallor

Examine mouth for central cyanosis

Assess JVP

Palpate carotid pulse

Inspect for scars, pulsations, and chest wall abnormalities

Palpate for apex beat and heaves

Auscultation

Auscultate heart sounds

Listen for added sounds and murmurs

Check for sacral oedema

Assess for pedal oedema

Summarize findings

Suggest further tests if needed
